Wilton Library launches new website

“The goal was to modernize both the look and functionality of the site. We’ve streamlined the information to make it even easier for contributors to find what they need. We worked in-house through rounds of brainstorming, wireframing, designing, and coding to create something completely custom, perfect for the people of Wilton and beyond. We are excited to launch the new website and hope all customers find it easy to use, informative and engaging,” Moore said.

Each year, more than 70,000 users visit www.wiltonlibrary.org to use the library catalog, search and register for events, reserve eBooks and audiobooks, get book recommendations, and more. . The library’s technology team consulted with every library department and reviewed website traffic history to ensure the new site would include everything users need. New useful content, content updates, and flexibility for future growth were also important considerations.

“We had brought the 2014 edition of the website through a smooth redesign and branding updates, but it was time to start from scratch with a really clean and focused redesign,” said Thomas Kozak, head of technology to Wilton Library, which created the site. Infrastructure. “Rather than modifying a standard platform, we decided to create a completely custom engine based on the stellar design work of Sandy and Emily. The code is built on open source libraries but was developed entirely in-house. This will make the new website faster for users and more adaptable for the future.”

The WLA Marketing Committee also decided to invest in a large library of event photography at the library, so that the website could accurately reflect the building and the people. “Jarret Liotta’s stunning photography perfectly captures the faces and the joy of the library,” said Stein.
